Ibis Budget Sallanches Pays Du Mont-blanc

Let me start by saying that I hate to give bad reviews. I know people work hard to keep their buisness going and I believe people mostly try to give a good service. But in this case this hotel failed to deliver what we really needed and what was promised. We booked two rooms, that were to be side by side, we also loved the idea of the early check-in. The check-in was meant to be at 12.00, we arrived at 14.00 and the two rooms were not ready! We were on a long road trip and wanted to check-in early and have some time to explore the area.... the rooms were eventually ready by 14.20.... not the cleanest. Rooms are very basic, just one pillow per person and one large towel.... no hand towels. Now for positives... location is good, very close to the motorway ... but there is noting much in the immediate area. AC was excellent and well needed on a hot summer night. Breakfast was available at 6.00 am, which was great as we needed to hit the road early. Overall, I would avoid this place next time.

I have stayed many times at the nextdoor Ibis Style and this time it was peak season so the prices had risen considerably so I chose the Budget version to save 40 Euro. And I think that I will stay here again because the room was excellent and the car park is shared with nextdoor so closed at night with a gate. They have recently closed the Budget reception so now you have to check in next door and then you have a room number and a key code to enter your room. The room was clean and perfectly equipped for a brief stay. I arrived at about 7pm, left my bag and walked to the Carrefour self service for some dinner, great place. So I hit my room for a shower and then bed at 9pm ish and left at 3am Sunday to head home. Perfect for a brief stay!!

Rooms are ok for budget hotel, location close enough to Chamonix. Main issue is the staff, they took deposit higher than stay cost itself. So be prepared to have locked 2x higher amount of money than you have to pay for your stay. They did not informed about such need during booking, nor when I payed at check-in. Employees at reception desk could not give me straight answer why they locked so much - once they said it was standard for all ibis budget hotels (it is a lie - i book a lot of ibis hotels and never had blocked so much money), and second time they said machine did it without them - great competence! This is first time i was so let down by accor and ibis in particular. I travel a lot with my wife during summers and choose accor hotels for peace of mind and not for surprises like that.
